Abstract: A total of 61 environmental priority pollutants were analyzed for 7 indexes, such as environmental behavior, biotoxicity, etc.,using the factor analysis method. For that,3 or 4 principal factors were screened out,i.e.biological toxicity, distributivity, and degradability,or biological toxicity, bioconcentration, absorptivity, and biodegradability.A three-factor model was adopted in evaluating ecological hazard of 61 environmental priority pollutants and 12 new chemicals.Contribution rates of the principal factors to the gross information content were used as weight to calculate values of ecological hazard of the new chemicals.Based on overall scores, ranks of the new chemicals relative to the 61 environmental priority pollutants were worked out and evaluated in terms of ecological hazard. Results show that the predicted results basically tally with the actual situation.
