Abstract: Pinus massoniana forest is a major component of the vegetation in the Sanxia Area. Field investigations revealed that the forests in the area could be sorted into 21 types of community, with obvious community layers, such as arbor layer, shrubs layer and herbaceous layer: and the richness, diversity and evenness of species in distribution showed such a regularity as herbaceous layer > shrubs layer > arbor layer and no regularity along the altitude.

Key words: community, diversity, pinus massoniana, the Sanxia Reservoir Area
