Abstract: Since 1990, frequent flood calamities have caused soil salinization in the area of Jiaxing municipality, resulted in the decrease of grain yield by at least 75 ?00 tons a year, accounts for about 3% of the total grain yield of the area. The waterlogged lowland and clay salinized land accounted for 80% of the area′s low yield farmland. The range and the distribution of salinized land were investigated. The soil chemical and physical properties, the characteristics of soil development and the trend of soil salinization are analyzed. Soil salinization control countermeasures have also been proposed.
