This paper presents a detailed estimation of methane emitted from ruminant animals China. and available. mitigation technologies are discussed. The tesults of estimation show that about 6.9 to 7.5 percent of gross energy taken by ru-minant animals is lost through methane emitted, The total methane emitted from ruminant i China is 5.80 Tg in 1990 or about 7.2 percent of the global methane emitted from ruminat。Straw treatment, multinutrient block and bypass protein technologie, and advanced management are proposed to reduce methane emitted and to increase productivity,There are some un-certainties in estimations due to lack of experimental data, great efforts are needed to improve the estimations and to develop effec-tive technologies for reducing methane emitted.

Based on the greenhouse gas Inventory reference manual, this paper calculated the methane emitted from Chima’s livestock manure. The emission was 1.198 Tg in 1990 and in-creased 75 % from 1970 to 1990 Covered lagoons and biogas generators were proposed to mitigate the methane emissions of livestock manure. Using of these two technologies can not only reduce methane emission, but also get environmental and economoc benefits.

Studies on laws of methane production in paddysoil have been carried out and the results show that(1) tempera-ture has a significant influence on methane production andmethane production rates increase by about 3 times with a rise of 10℃in temperature;(2)two peaks of methane production ap-pear after transplantation and before harvest respectively for bothearly rice and late rice, methane production rates are lower atmiddle growing stage ;(3)vertical distribution of methane pro-duction rates in paddy soil coincides with that of organic acid contents;(4) methane production rates in paddy soil with rice plants are much higher than those without rice plants and the dif-ference is getting more and more significant with the tice growth;(5)more than 80 % of the methane produced in paddy soil is re-oxidized in the course of transportation to the atmosphere i.e. less than 20%of the methane can be emitted to the atmosphere.

The movement of Cu and As in rice -soil systemand its effects on ecological environment rice-soil ecosystem pos-sesses significant mitigation effect on Cu and As pollution. Theconcentrations of soluable and exchangable Cu and As in soil arevery low. Cu and As entering rice are mainly accumulated in riceroots. The antagonistic actions are existing between soil Cu andAs.The critical value of Cu As in soil should be determinedupon the comprehensive viewpoint of multiple factors.

The transformation processes and control factors of the two main chemical forms(NO3 -N,NH4-N)of chemi-cal fertilizers in soil -water systems have been studied .The re-sults show that the two processes of mitrification and denitrifica-tion in the systems were all strong, and nitrification started earlier and goes faster than denitrification,The couple reaction of deni-trification and nitrification in soil-water system is the key mech- anism of the nitrogenous compound transformation,The main en-vironmental factor which control the degree of nitrite accumula-tion is temperature.

Effect of goal on infanty carp and adult shrimp in a designed rice field-pond simulation ecosystem was evaluated. The experimental results showed that goal disappeared very quick-ly in the environment, and will not cause damage to fish and shrimp in adjacent waters, and was safe to fish in the rice field if it is applied with recommended dosage.

The seasonal changes of F,S and Cl contents of eatable parts of 20 vegetable samples collected from four vegetable production bases of Nanjing were analyzed for three successive years,The results show that the average F,S,Cl contents of those sample are all higher than that of the controls The differe-ces were significant between leaf vegetable;and controls, the oth-ers did not show obvious differences. The F pollution of those vegetables is higher than Cl and S, and the Cl and S contents showed a decreasing trend. It is concluded that the industrial air pollution has certain inference on vegetable quality, and the prop-er distribution of vegetable production bases are suggested.

Fifty farmer household ecosystems of Liujialing Village,Jingshan County,Hubei province are numericallg classi-fied by principal composition analyses and system cluster analyses. The results indicate that the farmer hnusehold ecosystems could be classified into three groups:agticulture-animal husbandary.fruit-agriculture-animal husbandary and fishery-agriculture-animal husbandary. The results are quite reflecting the practical situation of the 338 farmer households in the village.

According to the changes of nutrition state andfood consumption structure of different population groups, thepopulation loading capacity of land resources of Taixing city in1993 and 2000 are estimated and predicted, The results showthat in 1993.the city land could support 1.2 million people forfood consumption with present level, but to the year of 2000.thecity land will only be able to support 0.95 million people for foodconsumption with confortable level, that means the food of morethan one third of the city’s population will be provided by other areas.

Three subystems-animal breeding, cropping and food processing have been integrated in one experimental farm in Shimen, Jinhua.Based on cropping the farm takes the animal breeding as the key section, and biogas plays a role as links in the whole farm system. Thus forming a complex farm structure char-acterized by energy and material recycling。Since the establish-ment of the farm im 1986,it has brought about high economic and ecological benefits, that provides an ecological agriculture model to the low hill red-soil areans of Southern China.
