This Paper, based on the energy analysis of Xishan Island of Tai Lake in Jiang-su Province, presents a general procedure and the methods for studying a regional ecosystem by energy analysis approach. We have analysed the energy flow of the natural subsystem, agricultural subsystem and industrial subsystem in this island respectively and integrated these in an overall diagram of energy flow. Results of this study show that the deterioration of the vegetation and the environmental quality in the area is induced by improper consumption of the large amount of imported energy. We conclude that the energy analysis approach can serve as a guidline for the regional constriction planning.

From the point of view bacteriology, the author suggested that microorganism activities in the aquatic system of cage aquaculture not only reflected the produc-tivity of the cage aquaculture, but also involved with the environmental effect. This paper discussed in particular about the distribution of bacteria in the aquatic system of cage aquacuiture. It also showed in detail the field test results and their statistical analysis, the standards ior the determination of pollution level, the characteristics of temporal and spacial distribution of pollution induced by bacteria, and so on.

Chicken manure is a waste of chicken farm. It contains, however, a plent of proteins and other nutrients. The experiment which raised hog by use of different proportion of chicken manure to ordinary fodder showed that it did not lower both the growth rate of hog and pork quality when adding 15-30% of chicken manure (fresh weight) to the forage and that it could save many fodders. The results obtained from the experiment proved that pig raising with a part of chicken manure was suitable to extend in rural area.

This paper attempts, through analyziag and evaluating the Chicken Farm brie-fly by input-output analysis, to approach the Chicken Farm’s standing, function and ecolomic persective in the whole Experimantal Farm. Furthermore, it adducea, based on dynamically simulating the Farm, combining with the chicken growth model and linear programming model, that the Chicken Farm should adopt consquently necessary management strategies in order to carry on its harmonized and stabilized function within the ecolomically sound recycling system of the whole Experimentall Farm.

Liuhe village began ecological agriculture construction in 1986 according to the principles of ecological economy and methods of systematic engineering, a series of practices have been applied, such as regulating the ratio of farming to lives-tocks, planting more grasses and trees.combining biological practices with engineering practices, and some effective farming techniques. After tow-year work, they have got obvious benefits. The total value of farming and livestocks output is as much as 2.6 times of that in 1984 and the total production of grains and beans in-creases 2.1 times than in 1985. The farming environment improves. We assess the agroecosystem in Liuhe village by the method of Fuzzy.

The sheltelterbelt nets of farmland of Xiao Zhang Zhuang village in Ying Shang county, Anhui Province was selected as the object of study, The authors have investigated the structure and arrangement of the forest region, effects of the shelterbelt nets of farmland on regulation of local climate improvement of soil fertility and increase in the grain production. The results show clearly that more than 90% of the structure and arrangement of the shelterbelt nets of farmland in this village is reasonable. During the dry hot season the nets can decrease wind speed by an average of 47.7%, air temperature vvith 0.6-l.3℃, and moisture evaporation by 18.9%. It also can increase relative humidity by5.38-10.76%, wheat yield by an average of 21.6%. AH of these showed that the nets can eff iciently improve the farmland eco-environment and raise its potential in defence netural calamities and crop yields. It promotes the rural ecosystem construction in this village.

In this paper, the contents of some heavy metals in soil, unplished rice, well water and aludge were examined in the areas of irrigation ditch in Chuan Sha cou-nty of Shanghai. The results showed that after stopping sewage irrigation for ten years, soil contamination induced by heavy metals was stili serious, though the Cd content in unpolished rice was lower than that of in 1976, and there was no effect on well water. The ways to deal the old irrigation ditch were discussed.

In this paper the dissipative structure theory has been lintroduced and applied to discuss some characteristics of soil ecosystem, A self-organized phenomenon can simultaneously occur in an open system under far-from-equilibrium conditions by exchanging energy and material with outside and then the system becomes more orderly than the former state. The concept of soil systems entropy has been pro-posed and applied in studying soil fertility. Results showed that the higher the soil fertility, the lower the soil system entropy.
