Abstract: A comprehensive review is presented of accumulation and toxicity of rare earth elements in human body,with stress on potential hazard of rare earth element fertilizers used in agricultural production to the environment and health of the human skeletal system.Long-term intake of low dose rare earth elements may lead to accumulation in the bone structure,leading to changes in the bone tissue and increased bone marrow micronucleus rate and further to generation of genetic toxicity in bone marrow cells.
