Abstract:
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) is very high in toxicity and very persistent in soil.It is,therefore, essential to study conditions for bio-remediation of benzo
a pyrene(BaP) and dibenzo
a,hanthracene(DBA) contaminated soils. It was found that addition of green manure or straw into the bio-pile significantly promoted the degradation of BaP and DBA;aeration from 0.05 to 0.10 m
3·h
-1 did not have any significant effect on their degradation;and the addition of EM actually inhibited their degradation;however, when the addition of green manure was set at 20 g·kg
-1 and the aeration at 0.10 m
3·h
-1,the BaP and DBA degradation rate was the highest, reaching up to 64.8% and 74.9%,respectively after 160 days of incubation.
