Abstract: At present, there is no mechanism for exchange and sharing of biodiversity information in China. It is therefore necessary to set up an information query channel with metadata to help people to know where to find required information. System analyses ,system design and program design were carried out for China Biodiversity Metedatabase. China Biodiversity Metadatabase possesses powerful information functions such as query by institute catalogue,query by thematic information and data of 133 institutions, 160 databases, 757 books and 61 maps, providing over 1 300 data sheets.
