Abstract: Located in the southeastern minority area of Guizhou Province, the main conserving targets of Leigongshan Nature Reserve are Taiwania flousiana and other rare species as well as middle subtropical mountainous forest ecosystems. The development of the Reserve area is limited by the poor local economy and dense population. In the past decade, the Reserve authority has successfully developed a lot of practical techniques and effective economic models for the sustainable utilization of local natural resources. Thus largely promoted the local economy, improved the local people’s livingcondition, increased the Reserves’s vitality and supported the conservation management . Based on the analyses of the development situation and aimed at the existing problems in the Reserve, the corresponding tactics for the future development of the Reserve have been proposed in this paper.
