Strengthening the Capacity Building of National Biodiversity Data Management and Information Communication

The biodiversity data and information covering the whole country have already been collected and compiled in China. On the other hand, the technical level and quality of biodiversity data management are relatively low, the technical measures and mechanisms for information communication are to be improved, and the comprehensive capacity building of data management and information communication is rather weak. Based on the evaluation of the status quo of biodiversity data management and information communication in China, specific action measures for strengthening the capacity building of China′s biodiversity data management and information communication have been proposed. The action measures include:1) establishing a modern organizational system for the management of national biodiversity information system, 2) establishing an electronic network of biodiversity information system, 3) establishing an information sharing mechanism, 4) coordinating, perfecting and developing a set of priority databases, and 5) formulating the basic standards for data management.
