Abstract: Compared with urban settlement ecology,rural settlement ecology has not received much attention in China with theories and methods immature. In order to stimulate studies on rural settlement ecology,the traditional Chinese ideas on settlement ecology,studies of rural settlement ecology in China and other countries are reviewed.
