A STUDY AND ASSESSMENT OF THE DISTRIBUTON OF VEGETATION IN THE MIYUN RESERVOIR BASIN OF CHAOBEI RIVER BY REMOTE SENSING

Using the technique of satellite remote sensing, the vegetation of that destrict was classified into 16 types; a vegetation distribution map has been made and the water and soil conservation functions of the vegetation was studied assessed. The conclusions were: the ecological function of the vegetation in that river valley was good enough to" preserve the water resource of Miyun Reservoir, Water is the limiting factor for the coverage rate of the vegetation. The hillside should be closed to facilitate the secondary succession of the vegetation in order to ensure the continuous use of the Miyun Reservoir.
