Abstract: In this paper the dissipative structure theory has been lintroduced and applied to discuss some characteristics of soil ecosystem, A self-organized phenomenon can simultaneously occur in an open system under far-from-equilibrium conditions by exchanging energy and material with outside and then the system becomes more orderly than the former state. The concept of soil systems entropy has been pro-posed and applied in studying soil fertility. Results showed that the higher the soil fertility, the lower the soil system entropy.
