Abstract:

STL (season and trend decomposition using Loess) time sequence decomposition (locally weighted regression scatter smoothing) method, time lag correlation analysis and modified residual analysis were performed of the MODIS images, the mean monthly NDVI (normalized difference vegetation index) time sequence data of TM images and the meteorological data of Daliuta of the Shendong Mining Area of the time period of 2005-2012, to explore laws of the temporal variation of vegetation NDVI in Daliuta with changes in precipitation and temperature during the period from 2005 to 2012 as well as laws of temporal variation of vegetation NDVI in response to human activities, especially mining activities. Results show that the vegetation NDVI in Daliuta responded one month behind the changes in precipitation and temperature, and was the most closely related to rainfall of the past two months; coal mining did have some negative impacts on vegetation NDVI, which responded a bit less than one month later.
