Abstract: Based on illustration of the concept and functions of the exposure simulation shell for pesticide eco-risk assessment,an introduction was presented to development purposes, configurations, input parameters, operation mode and output of the exposure simulation shells that are currently available for pesticide ecological risk assessment, such as PE[PRZM(pesticide root zone mode)-EXAMS(exposure analysis modeling system)],EXPRESS(EXAMS-PRZM exposure simulation shell),SWASH(surfaces water scenarios help)and PRAESS(pesticide risk assessment exposure simulation shell),which were developed by the USA,EU(European Union)and China, separately.Furthermore similarities of and differences between the shells in model, scenario, type of water body simulated and main output were analyzed, with the purpose of providing some helpful reference to the research of pesticide ecological risk assessment, especially the reasearch of exposure assessment in China.
