Abstract: Based on a summary for categories of economic values of biodiversity, the values and their connotations for biodiversity in nature reserves are examined. The values are divided into four categories: direct values of extractive goods, direct values of nonextractive service, indirect values of the ecological functions and nonuse values including existence value, bequest value and option value, Furthermore, the methodologies for evaluating the values are put forward.

Key words: biodiversity, nature reserve, economic value, valuation
