Abstract: Through regional investigation and site analyses, typical chinampa systems in Maoming city of Guangdong province were studied. Apart from the common chinamapa system model, there arc the traditional tiny fish pond model and fish-livestock-fruit model. Traditional tiny fish pond model can make good use of the favourable conditions of the forest area, and vegetables and other crops arc planted by pond. It is easy to manage the tiny pond, and the fish yield is often above 1000kg/inu. At present, deforestation and water pollution arc the two major factors to retard the development of this system in the studied area. Fish-livestock-fruit integrated system has a close material cycling, which has a good social, economical and ecological benefit.
