Abstract: The results of pot experiments showed that the difference of Fe and Mn contents in diffe rent paddy soils was one of the most important factors which made the differences of methane emission amounts of different soils. It has been found that the effects of soil Fe and Mn on soil methane emission were caused by affecting soil Eh and root plate.

Key words: Fe, Mn, parent material, methane emission, paddy soil
