Abstract: The Status quo of researches home and abroad on the sources, distributions, migration and transformation of PCDDs in soils (especially, sewage sludge) has been introduced. The high environmental stability of PCDDs has intensified its seriousness of pollution to the environment. PCDDs are mainly degraded by photolysis in the environment. Further studies on biodegradation, chemical degradation and physical treatment of PCDDs are needed.

Key words: soil, sewage sludge, PCDDs
