Abstract: Live Chinese Bulbul(Pycnonotus sinensis),Japanese White-eye(Zosterops japonicus),Great Tit(Parus major)and Tristram′s Bunting (Emberiza tristrami)were collected at Baiyunshan,Guangzhou City in China from November 1999 to January 2000.Their primary feathers, chest muscles and livers were extracted for test of residues of Cd,Cr,Cu,Pb and Zn with plasma-atomic emission spectrophotometry(ICP). Cd,Cr,Cu,Pb,and Zn were detected in all tissues except Cd in the chest muscle. The Cd residues in liver and primary feather were in the range of 0.2-5.7 and 0.0-0.5 μg·g-1,respectively.In liver, chest muscle and primary feather, the Cr residues were in the range of undetected-0.3,0.3-0.9 and 0.6-1.3 μg·g-1,respectively;the Cu residues were in the range of 15.2-88.4,12.6-32.3 and 5.4-30.8 μg·g-1,respectively;the Pb residues were in the range of 0.8-15.0,0.0-1.7 and 5.4-28.0 μg·g-1,respectively;the Zn residues were in the range of 58.3-347.0,19.5-104.0 and 114.0-367.0 μg·g-1,respectively.The highest residues of Cr,Pb and Zn were found in primary feathers, and the highest residues of Cd and Cu were detected in liver. There are significant interspecies differences between Japanese White-eye and Tristram′s Bunting in residues of Cd,Cr,Cu,Pb,but not in residues of Zn.The residual distributions of heavy metals in tissues varied from element to element.
