The Present Status and Needs of Biodiversity Conservation Legislation in China

Abstract: Biodiversity conservation depends largely on a sound legislation in both international and national levels.China has promulgated a series of laws and regulations concerning biodiversity conservation.By the enforcement of those laws and regulations,great achievements have obtained.However,deficiencies and gaps are still existing.In this paper,the present status of biodiversity conservation legislation in China has been summarized.In view of the existing problems and on the basis of the Convention of Biological Diversity.the demands of improving and enhancing of the legislation system have been described in three aspects: ecosystem,species and genetic diversity.
