Abstract: Impacts of invasive alien plant Eupatorium adenophorum on soil animal communities in three main ecosystems, coniferous forest,broad-leaved forest and meadow in Kunming,Yunnan Province were analyzed.Data, including 144 samples, were collected in the raining season from June to September of 2005.Compared to non-infested area, the number of species groups of soil animals decreased significantly by 41.3%,29.0% and 36.7% in the coniferous forest,broad-leaved forest and meadow, respectively. The number of individuals in each animal group decreased by 63.5%,20.4% and 43.2% in the coniferous forest,broad-leaved forest and meadow, respectively. The invasion of the plant also affected diversity and evenness of the soil animals. In the coniferous forest and meadow ecosystems free of Eupatorium adenophorum, community diversity and evenness kept increasing from June to August, but the invasion of the plants resulted in the decrease in numbers of soil animal groups and individuals in some groups, thus changed the trend.
